Photography Group DecemberMeeting

The Group met at 10:15 on 10th December with the theme ‘Twilight/Night Photography’.

All 6 people attended.

The group had organised a photoshoot on 24th November to visit the Winchester Christmas Fair. We met up at 15:50 as planned to give us some ‘twilight time’.

Several pictures were taken in challenging light conditions but the session ended because it was very cold – two of us were somewhat warmer after sampling some Gluhwein!

Member’s responses to the theme were asked to include at least 2 pictures from the photoshoot. Overall best picture was John Clarks’s ‘Tree at Winchester Christmas Market’ although the overall standard of the folios was very high.

January’s theme is ‘Close Up’. John Hawke outlined some ideas for this theme that included macro, close cropping to enlarge, and telephoto zoom.

November Photogroup Meeting

The Group met at 10:15 on 13th November with the theme ‘Nostalgia’.

Only 5 people attended with Anjie Sargeant on holiday.

Member’s responses to the theme were wide ranging as would be expected. Overall best picture was John Hawke’s ‘Fairground at Beamish Museum’.

Members were encouraged to explain why their photographs evoked nostalgic memories. Mike Liberson’s Mars Bar picture prompted laments about its marked reduction in size (as well as the plate size of the original Wagon Wheels!) We also found out that John Clarks photo was his first cot toy – exposing its age as ’74 and a half’.  Pam Liberson’s photo of a nursing chair is a treasured heirloom – the tapestry was done by her great grandmother and the carving done by her grandmother (or the other way round – she could not remember).

December’s theme is ‘Twilight/Night Photography’. The group have organised a photoshoot on 24th November to visit the Winchester Christmas Fair to take at least two pictures for the December folios. We meet up at 15:50 to give us some ‘twilight time’.

Photography Group October Meeting

The Group met at 10:15 on 9th October with the theme ‘Harvest’.

Rosemay Crumplin sent their apologies – enjoying a long cruise down the Eastern Seaboard of the USA and the Caribbean. Only 4 people attended with Anjie Sargeant hosting.

Member’s responses to the theme were wide ranging as would be expected. Overall best picture was Mike Liberson’s ‘Poppy seeds’ .

November’s theme is ‘Nostalgia’.

There was some reminiscing that emphasised how personal this theme was proving to be. Naturally this led to protracted discussions of past holidays!
