2025 artworks gallery
The Art Group is a joint Anton and Andover u3a activity.
It aims to improve members’ skills and knowledge in painting and drawing in a variety of media, e.g. watercolour, acrylic, oil, pastel, pencil, charcoal.
Our weekly sessions are very relaxed, friendly and largely unstructured, so you can focus on whatever interests you.
New members are always welcome!
If you have an interest in painting or drawing, whether experienced or a beginner, just contact our group leader below or simply come for a taster session.
Our professional facilitator, Renate West, can help you achieve your objectives and develop your skills.
Renate also leads interesting, short demos and workshops. For example: custom colour mixing; contrast, composition, perspective, use of tone.

Activities and trips
Longstock Water Gardens
The art group made a return visit to the Longstock Water Gardens in May.
Our objective was to absorb the tranquil ambience of the gardens and capture their essence in sketches.
We can’t recommend it enough as a location to visit.
It can be very therapeutic just to stroll around the pathways, sit and take in the views over the ponds and listen to the birdsong.
Although it was a hot day, the ample shelter of trees in the gardens provided ideal conditions for our activity. The Spring being all but over, all the planting was lush and vibrant, giving us unending inspiration. A visit thoroughly enjoyed!
